Over 100years of Experience

Chartered in 1905, the United Association of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union No. 52 is headquarterd in Montgomery, Alabama. We have over 100 years of excellence in the plumbing and pipefitting industry.

Prior to 1889, plumbers, steamfitters and gas fitters were organized as members of independent local unions with either no affiliation, or affiliation with a variety of trades.

The United Association (UA) was officially born on October 11, 1889. The organization was originally known as the United Association of Journeymen Plumbers, Gas Fitters, Steam Fitters and Steam Fitters' Helpers of the United States and Canada.

At the turn of the century, UA leaders made numerous revolutionary decisions such as the establishment of a mechanism allowing UA members to travel to jobs throughout the United States and Canada.

This "mobility" issue became particularly important during the early 1900's, when the construction industry began a period of significant expansion. From 1898 to 1914, the UA quadrupled its membership. Local 52 was a part of this revolutionary change in the industry!
